Homeless Elders

We spoke with Pier Schwartz, Director of St. Mary's Center in downtown Oakland, about the rise of homeless elderly in Alameda County, and the threats they face. St. Mary's offers services to low-income residents in West Oakland, including day care and free meals. They also opened a homeless shelter for seniors a number years ago. Pier tells us why:
